There are probably only a few positions in the world that offer you endless opportunities for creativity and exploration, a fresh start every year, the chance to help children and adults, and plenty of hugs – and I have one of them!
I have been at KCS since 1999 and a part of the elementary campus since 2005. I have taught primary, intermediate, middle and high school, as well as teaching in British Columbia and Ontario, and in both public and independent systems. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences with all of them. To me, whether you are an adult or child, the act of teaching goes hand in hand with being a learner. My best experiences as an educator have always been helping children “get it” and then seeing them use their learning to help others. This mirrors the learning process that happens in myself. Working with students always teaches me so much about how I process, my tendencies, how I take risks and profit from experience. Working at KCS has helped me appreciate how much He holds all things together and has deepened my spiritual walk immensely.
My favourite people in the world are my best gifts from God: my beautiful wife Melodie and our two children, Abbie (5) and Sterling (3). During my free time, I enjoy watching sports, camping, drumming, gardening, and puttering around the house. I also love eating pretzel M & Ms, which means that I have to enjoy running frequently. |
